Are Contact Lenses Safe For Children?

Absolutely!

There are three things we like to gauge this on as eye care professionals.

  • Children have to want to wear contact lenses and have good hand hygiene.

  • Parents need to be supportive of their child wearing lenses.

  • And your optometrist needs to be happy that the child is suitable for lenses.

What Happens Next?

If your child would like to try contact lenses as an alternative to spectacles, you can rest assured they are in safe hands.

Our experienced and accredited optometrists will ensure your child and their eyes are compatible for contact lens wear. We will teach them how to look after lenses and how to put them in and take them out. We expect your child to attend regular check ups too, this helps you to be sure their eyes remain healthy and gives our optometrist an opportunity to keep a watchful eye on their myopia progression.
