6 tips to finding a great optician.

Millions of people realise the important of eye health and having the correct vision but unlike doctors, where you have a only small choice in your catchment area, opticians are everywhere; from Independents to supermarket chains. Here's 6 top tips to choosing the right opticians for you;
1. PHONE A FRIEND.
When you've picked a couple of Opticians in your local area you might like to ask friends and family if they have been. You know your friends and family will give you honest opinions, so if there's something the loved or loathed about a particular practice they will tell you.
2. GOOGLE IT.
Use an internet search engine like Google to find the optical practices that have recommended to you. You will likely find a lot of useful contact information, links to their websites, social media and feedback from other users of the store.
3. CHECK WHAT THEY OFFER FOR YOUR EYES.
Once you've found an Opticians website you will able able to see what they have to offer. Some opticians offer advanced services such as Ocular Coherrence Tomograpghy, which is like a CAT scan of the eye and its underlying layers. These advanced services can offer more in-depth information about your eyes which can be used for new and future visits. Some opticians also offer frame styling services which are great if you aren't sure what spectacles suit you (if you need them of course)
4. CALL THEM.
There's no better way to find out about customer service than actually experiencing it for yourself. Give the opticians a call, ask them any questions you may have, paying attention to politeness, their willingness to help you and the quality of information you receive back from your questions.
5. HOW MUCH ARE YOU EYES WORTH?
A considerable amount of opticians offer NHS funded eye examinations to those who are eligible. If you have to pay for your eye examination you may find that the cost of an eye examination will vary between different practices based on services offered, how long the eye examination lasts and the quality of service you are likely to receive. Think about what your eyes are worth to you, in many cases you get what you pay for.
6. GET BOOKED IN.
You should have all the information you need to select an optician that is going to provide you with the eye care you need AND deserve. When you have made your selection don't forget to get booked in letting them know of any family history of ocular conditions, any concerns you have about your eyes and whether you currently wear spectacles at the moment.
