Donington Opticians; Baking a difference
A Donington optician is set to give support back to the Brain Tumour Charity throughout March after it's continued support for a team member and their family.
The big bake sale will take place at Clark Family Eyecare on Friday 6th March where you can expect to find an array of homemade yummyness.
Optical Advisor Tina, came up with the idea after receiving support from the charity following her fathers diagnosis of glioblastoma Stage 4 multiforme in April 2018. Tina says “I wanted to do something to help others by raising money for a charity who has supported me and my family over the last 2 years.”
The Brain tumour Charity state that less than 2% of cancer research funding in the UK is spent on research into brain tumours.
March is Brain Tumour awareness month and the Brain Tumour Charity will have support up and down the UK in the aim to raise £200,000 to enable scientists and researchers to discover better diagnostic techniques, develop new treatments, fund life-changing support and ultimately, find a cure.
In support for the Charity Cheryl and Annica, Practice Owners, have chosen to donate an additional £10 for every enhanced eye examination throughout March.
Enhanced eye examinations at Clark Family Eyecare include the use of OCT Ocular Health Scans. These hospital grade scans enable the optometrist to view the layers at the back of an eye in great depth and detail, providing an opportunity for earlier diagnosis (compared to traditional examinations) of eye conditions and other possible health conditions; in extreme cases brain tumours.
