What is essential eyecare?

With lockdown announced on the 23rd March 2020 many businesses closed to the public in order to stop the spread of coronavirus, however opticians were allowed to remain open to provide emergency and essential eyecare and spectacle repairs and replacements for those who could not cope without.

Here at Clark Family Eyecare, we have been providing these essential services to the community in the way of telephone triage, doorstep collection and delivery of spectacles for repair and providing replacement eyewear for those in desperate need.

Today, as the restrictions begin to loosen and businesses begin to get back on their feet, Clark Family Eyecare are ensuring the practice is safe for our customers as we begin to open up to face to face appointments for those who require it.

"Face to face appointments need to happen in a safe and clinically clean environment for the safety of our customers and the team, so we have been making provisions to comply with this." Says Annica Clark, Manager "We have PPE available to the team, screens being installed at reception and other equipment being installed to ensure social distancing can be maintained where ever possible"

Essential eyecare can be certified as essential if a customer is experiencing worrying symptoms or their symptoms, such as reduced vision, is effecting their daily life/occupation.

Through out lockdown Clark Family Eyecare has been working with a reduced team to deliver over the phone triaging and will be opening its diary shortly for eyecare which requires face to face interaction.

If you are unsure if your eyecare need is essential or you are experiencing changes in your vision or eye health you shouldn't hesitate to get in touch with the team on 01775 821888.

All visitors to the practice should call ahead to be triaged or to arrange an appointment for spectacle repairs. "Our aim is to reduce contact as much as we can, whilst still providing the high level of service so many have come to know and love."
